Two weekends in a row 4H clubs and farms from the area were invited to come bring some animals to Old Sturbridge Village (OSV) for the Heritage Cattle week. OSV had some groups of people that had brought some Heritage Breed Cattle, and asked that 4H bring their more “modern cousins” for visitors to the village to see the differences and current purposes. Our club, Blackstone Valley 4H, accepted and for both weekends our club members brought a dairy calf and a beef calf. There were also two other farms there, one with pigs, the other brought some of their cattle and some goats. A different farm brought their alpacas. It was a lot of fun the first weekend, and we had a toss up the 2nd weekend between going to another day at the MassHOPE Homeschool Convention OR we could go to OSV for the 4H event. Well, after considering that we had visited the convention the previous day and that the 2nd day workshops would for the most part be a repetition of the day we had already attended, we decided that OSV would get our vote.
As it was the previous weekend we had attended, the day was absolutely beautiful. Although it was colder and cloudier this time around, it was still quite pleasant.
Here are some pics of our crew and set up at the event:
There was an event called “Farm Yard Olympics” that some kids from our group attended:
Just prior to our clean up/pack up to leave the village my eye spied the most adorable situation. I grabbed my camera phone and ran down to snap a couple of shots!
That’s all for now, take care and Yah bless you!
