This school year (2014-2015) we decided to try 4H …. again! We joined before back in Texas but we didn’t get much further than attending a few meetings before we had to move to a town an hour and a half away from our club. We tried to find a different 4H club in our new town, Lockhart, TX, but we never decided and before we knew it the years was over and we just simply opted to not join… until now!
We tried some different clubs and decided on Blackstone Valley 4H, they show primarily Cattle.
Finally, the word is in, my daughter decided on her 4H project!
Her name is, “Annie.” 🙂 She is a “beef” cow, but at the moment her breed escapes me. I will report back later and let y’all know.
She will be staying at her resident farm even though she ‘could,’ in theory, stay with us at our farm. We decided she’d be happier hanging with her other cow buddies. Stay tuned for future Annie updates.
Baby Goat “half birthday”
Today is a special day! It is the Baby Goats, Shuggy and Smudgy’s, HALF birthday! That’s right, today they are 6 months old. They are still pint-sized, so while we are certain that they are at least PART La Mancha (due to Smudgy’s tiny, trademark, La Mancha ears), we think that they are part “mini goat.”
So, without knowing, our kind neighbor stopped by and dropped off a home-crafted goat-yoke. How fun! They got to try it out. It was very sparkly. They are going to have to get used to it some. For now, here is a few pics of them trying it on for size.
We’ll post a video, eventually, of them pulling a cart.
Happy half-Birthday Goatie girls! 🙂
